Summer Camp Counselor – Day Camp

Department: Recreation Programs

Reports to: Manager of Youth Services

Pay: $475.00 Weekly Stipend

Training Dates: 05/27/26 - 06/05/26

Camp Dates: 06/08/26 -08/14/26

Summary


The Summer Camp Counselor provides direct care, support, and supervision for campers, ensuring safety, engagement, and participation in daily activities. Counselors help implement camp programs, support daily living needs, and contribute to a positive and inclusive camp environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and care for assigned campers, ensuring safety, engagement, and positive participation.
  • Support campers with daily living needs, personal care, and activity participation as required.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized camp environment; ensure equipment is used safely.
  • Foster positive relationships with campers, families, staff, and community partners.
  • Attend required training (8 days), including disability awareness, behavior management, ADLs, documentation, CPR/First Aid/AED, and CPI.
  • Review and implement camper plans (ISP, IEP, medical information) and complete required documentation.
  • Communicate concerns, updates, and progress to coordinators, parents, and administrative staff.
  • Participate in scheduled meetings before and after camp hours.
  • Report any safety concerns, policy violations, or suspected maltreatment immediately.
  • Contribute ideas for activities, support special events, and promote a positive team environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with children.
  • Ability to work in group settings, demonstrate responsibility, professionalism, and flexibility.
  • Enthusiastic, creative, and committed to treating all staff and campers with respect.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or previous camp experience.
