Monitor- (Pediatrics)

Job title: Noon monitor

Supervisor: Principal of Autism School

Department: Education

Classification: Exempt

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

School Calendar: Part-time (20 hours) weekly

Under the direct supervision of the teacher and the Manager of the Autism School:

1. Assist the students with all instructional and non-instructional tasks as assigned by the teacher. (e.g., academics-instructional; behavior support; personal hygiene assistance)

2. Assists in supervision of students throughout day including lunch, arrival/departure, rest periods, electives, field trips, etc.

3. Supports prescribed behavior plans.

4. Provide direct supervision of a student to monitor and redirect students.

5. Assist in personal hygiene routines on an as needed basis.

6. Assist in the preparing and breaking down of instructional spaces after use.

7. Assist in keeping the classroom and materials used in an organized and effective manner (e.g., store equipment, clean book shelves, bin, etc.) Sanitize equipment as needed.

Education, Training, and/or Experience

Associates Degree in Education or related field or 2 years of college in Education/Special Education or other related field. Experience working in a classroom setting. Good interpersonal skills, organizational and communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Training and experience of 1-2 years with children/individuals with Autism
  2. Training and experience as a Teaching Assistant in Kindergarten through grade 8 inclusive or specialized classroom program.
