We are currently seeking a strategic, mission-driven Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO) to join our executive leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned HR leader to shape and drive the human capital strategy of a respected organization that values empowerment, equity, and excellence.


Position Summary:

The CHRO is a key member of the executive team and serves as a strategic advisor to the President & CEO and Board of Directors. This position leads the development and implementation of workforce strategies that support a high-performing, inclusive, and employee-centered culture. The CHRO is responsible for guiding all aspects of Human Resources, including talent acquisition and retention, employee relations, benefits and compensation, compliance, performance management, and workforce development.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive human capital strategy aligned with the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic plan.
  • Partner with the CEO and executive team on workforce planning, leadership development, and succession planning.
  • Oversee the Human Resources department and supervise staff responsible for HR and payroll functions.
  • Lead initiatives to promote employee engagement, inclusion, cultural competency, and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate and manage compensation and benefits programs, including vendor negotiations and benefits administration systems.
  • Guide the organization in the areas of employment law, policy development, compliance, and risk management.
  • Assess and enhance HR systems and processes, including performance management and training/development programs.
  • Support senior-level talent acquisition and retention efforts in partnership with the Director of Talent Acquisition & Retention.
  • Serve as a resource and coach to the executive leadership team and senior managers.
  • Present to and engage with the Board of Directors as required.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 8 years of demonstrated experience in designing, developing, and implementing strategic HR strategic initiatives, ideally within a nonprofit or mission-driven organizations.
  • Experience managing HR in a multi-site environment preferred.
  • Strong background in employee relations, compliance, benefits management, and leadership development.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems (experience with Paylocity is a plus).

Certifications:

  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication; capable of engaging effectively with staff at all levels.
  • Proven leadership and team development skills.
  • High level of discretion and ability to manage confidential information.
